I Was That Girl

I saw her walk in the rain,
she was drenched and her hand would bleed her to death.
I saw her collapse on the floor,
she reached out,
tried to make it to the door.
She gave up,
screamed she couldn't do it anymore,
I saw the once strong girl give up.

I cried out,
I reached out to help her,
She looked so tranquil laying in the rain,
all worries and pain gone.
Anyone else could have mistaken her for being asleep in the rain,
If her chest wasn't still and her hand wasn't bleeding.
I knew she was in pain,
I wanted to do whatever I could to stop it.
I reached out to hold her hand,
But my hand went right through.
That is when I realized: I was that girl,
And I was already dead.
